I am sure this will come as no surprise when you see her photos, but Terrin was the winner of Miss Photogenic in last spring’s Miss Douglas County/Miss Outstanding Teen pageant. Part of what she won was a session with me, yay!! We had a great time, love love love her hair don’t you?!

Many of you may have read or heard about the little boy who was saved from drowning on Sunday at Burkhart Rapids. Well, one of “my” seniors, Larissa Pierce, was the one who pulled him from the water. She has worked for the Sheriff’s Dept. with Search and Rescue for years and in the past week was involved in saving two lives! So for those of you that don’t think our Roseburg teens do much of interest I say “take note”! Here is a link to KDRV’s coverage of the rescue, KDRV

Miss Douglas County 2011

Tonight is the Miss Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant and tomorrow is the Miss Douglas County Scholarship Pageant. Both are held out at UCC in the Jacoby Auditorium. I have worked with the pageant girls for the past 5 or 6 years taking their photos for the program and for the Miss Photogenic Award and I can tell you they are all very deserving amazing girls. If you have never gone you really should. The girls work really hard for weeks to put on a great pageant for us. The winners are awarded scholarships for their college education so it is a great cause too! Hope to see you there!

Totally off topic… well, not really I guess since there is a PHOTO! Yesterday I was photographing some of my high school senior models and while I was waiting for them to change their outfits I saw this blackberry bush… Few things say “summer” to me as much as blackberries! I remember picking them until my fingers were blue and sticky (and my belly fuller than the bowl to be honest!) Love, love, love the blackberries! Hope everyone is having a fabulous summer!

As many of you know Glide’s Softball team is going to be playing for the State 3A Championship tomorrow! This is the first time that Glide has gone to state since 1997 so it is a BIG deal! While I know several girls on the team and am proud of them all… I have to brag a bit on one in particular. Marissa Duarte is the team pitcher, she is also one of my 2011 Senior Models! Marissa had a great write up in Thursday’s NewsReview for being the Female Prep Athlete of the SEASON!! She has an 18-1 record in the pitchers circle with an 0.53 ERA, with 181 strikeouts and 33 walks in 105 1/3 innings… now if you are like me and not a softball genius that may sound like gobbledy-gook… suffice to say it means the girl is GOOD!

So, if you don’t have plans for tomorrow make the drive up to Portland and support some local girls who have worked super hard and just may be the State Champs on Sunday!

Well after more interviews than I can count I am finally ready to announce who will be my senior models for the class of 2011! I am so looking forward to working with these kids, they are all great kids… involved in more activities than you can count and just all round fun people!! If it ever stops raining long enough for us to go take some photos you will get to see what all of these fabulous kids look like!

Dog Walk and Play Day | southern oregon pet photographer

Tomorrow is Roseburg’s first annual Dog Walk and Play Day put on by Making Connections. It will be held tomorrow at Stewart Park from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. They will be having a group dog walk, Agility Dog and Disc Dog Demonstrations, a dog/owner lookalike contest, raffles and much more! Be sure to get there early because the first 100 dogs will also receive a free goody bag from Companion Animal Clinic! I will have a booth so please come by to say “hi”. I will have some specials and a drawing that you can enter as well!

Of course no post is complete without photos right? So here are my two very favorite dogs in the world…

Oh… I wish I could show you photos! but really … they are private! I photographed my first official Boudoir Session yesterday and it was so much fun! If you don’t know what Boudoir photography is let me describe my spin on it. Boudoir portraits in our studio are fun, flirty images done very tastefully with poses and post processing to make you look your very best. Typically these images will be used to design an album for that special someone in your life, an album we like to call the little black book. Congratulations to Jenn Lund who was chosen as the NewsReview’s Female Prep Athlete of the week! Jenn is one of my senior models and is not only a great athlete but a great representative for my studio! She always has a great attitude when we do her photo sessions … and is super fun to be around… if the NewsReview is to be believed she also likes dried apricots and “The Lion King”!
